So you might remember my story about the rare Auto World car the other day. Well, that's nothing. Today, I was out with my friend and my metal detector when I got a really wide signal. Usually that means garbage, but I had a gut feeling it was something neat like a license plate. Nope. It was four tool boxes filled entirely with rolls of coins. Inside of the top-most one was an old note that just said "I can't take these with me." It was soggy and fell apart when I tried to move it, so unfortunately I don't have a picture of that. Over all, my rough estimate for the face value is $500-$800, but after going through a few of the rolls, there is a LOT of silver in the mix. $40 face value in 90% silver quarters alone, plus $100 in 90% silver dimes. There are also plenty of buffalo nickels and wheat pennies. The vast majority are regular nickels and pennies dated 1990 at the newest, so I'm assuming this was a 24-year-old cache. I'll post pictures tomorrow when we've hopefully gotten the stuff better organized, but it's looking to me like this massive stash holds a value somewhere in the thousands.
And yes, I realize I'm teasing you so much by not including pictures, but just take my word for it... They're coming.

About 20 years ago, some guy came into my gas station and paid for $30 in gas for his Suburban with 3 rolls of VERY beat up silver quarters. They looked like they had been run through a blender or something. I still got 3 times their face value when I sold them. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, hopefully your silver will be worth more than that.

Wow! Great find. I once found an 11 ounce bar of silver. Go, guy. Let us know.
